65 Evinride 40 Float Height

Hello all, for a 1965 evinrude 40hp big twin. I am told float level should be between 28.575-41.275 can anymore confirm? Mine measures 44mm!

Right now the float when held in correct position opens so much the float needle falls out. From the manual the stock design did not include a float needle clip to float.

Nice photos. Float will hit float bowl before needle ever could fall out. Also float should be parallel with bottom of carb, you are a bit off there. I like that cork float.
