Is there a pilot Bearing for the back of crankshaft ?

I haven't had the gear off of one but there is really no need for a pilot bearing...you can look at the input shaft on the gear - if there's no shoulder, then there's no need for a pilot bearing...

Thanks. New boat with a Jack shaft with cv s. Lots of moving parts and have a little up down play. Just not sure if it’s before or at the cv.
