"I am looking at buying a 91 C

"I am looking at buying a 91 Carver with twins. I have been told that the head exchanger on the starboard engine was installed too close to the starter, causing the exchanger to fail. Has anyone heard about this before?"

All of the crusader engines I've seen with the factory HX have fixed lower mounting holes in the HX bracket. The upper ends are slotted to allow proper location of the HX based on the particular installation. I'd suspect you weren't told the "whole" story.

Based on the arrangement, I can't see how the HX and the starter could contact and damage the HX unless a fastener failed."
