5.7 no spark

after installing new dist. module, and coil there is no spark until you shut the key off then you get a spark! confused

Do you mean that you will sometimes get a 'puff of smoke like the engine has fired' up the carb or out the exhaust, as if one or more cylinders fired? after you have stopped cranking the engine? Or, what leads you to believe that the spark has occurred after the key has been shut off?
