"Ok guys, all this timing talk on the board has me worried about my timing setting from my tune up last year. My 4.3LX, Alpha one is a 1989 non-vortec ThunderBolt IV. I set it to 8 BTDC @ idle. Is that right? I have never set the timing any other way, but I saw mention of a 4000 RPM setting...??? Can someone elaborate on the process? Thanks!

"Setting it when the advance is all the way in, at high rpm, is the most accurate way to do it. (That's how racers ALWAYS do it.) The way you did it is just fine, however.
