4.3 omc

When I check the timing I can see the mark bounce around. At times it is at 8 degrees btdc. Other times it’s before the indicator and still others it’s after it. I can turn the router from left to right a little bit. Not sure if this is good or not. Have the dwell set to 41 degrees. It seams to be hard to get it much lower than that. For the most part it’s running fine except once it’s warm it’s a little hard to turn over. Like the timings not quite right. Any advice would be greatly appreciate. I can’t seams to find any information on electronic ingation for a OMC with that spark interrupter. Not sure it’s working right either. Very hard to take at of gear.

Check for timing chain slop. Pull the distributor cap and with a wrenck turn the crank clockwise until you get TDC then watch the rotor and slowly turn the crank counterclockwise until the rotor begins to move. Anything over 2 or 3 degrees pull the cover and put in a new chain and sprockets.
