"I have a 350 I just put in my boat its around 1980 with the log type manifolds. Do these manifolds get pretty hot, is that normal? I've been told that the older 350's manifolds get hot. Any truth to that?"

"If the boat has a closed cooling system, the manifolds will be pretty warm, i.e., 160 to 190 degrees.
If its raw water cooled, Merc has two technologies for raw water cooling. With one of these, the manifolds are fairly cool, with the other one, the manifolds are warmer.

I have raw water cooled and the manifold is the Log type with the elbow at the transom end of the manifold not the newer ones with the elbow in the middle.

Check the Tee-ball valve in the thermostat houseing.
What is hot? anything above 40deg-C or 105 degF will feel hot by hand.
