"Our 36 Hatteras has 2 350 HP Crusaders.Great engines, in fact, I used to build them for drag racing. Ours was a fresh water boat until Sept. of 2006. I am told that you need to replace the risers and elbows every 5 to 6 years' for obvious reasons,when the boat lives in salt water. Now I discover that no one makes those 12" dog bone risers. Can I use 2 6" risers back to back, or is that the time to re-power to modern diesels?"

"as long as you have the fore-aft clearance, why not? I haven't seen 6" so maybe a 4" and an 8".

Two otherr choices: 1) measure the install and see if you really need 12" of height. The current install manual (crusader www site) describes this adequately for that vintage. 2) swap over to the 'merc' style center riser system. Crusader switched over to a similar style on their products a while back.

Either way, you can buy a lot of cast iron for what the 'swap' would cost you."
