I have a 35 Hp and 25 Hp Evinrude, older in the 70's.. both have the same problem.
Running at low speeds, no problems... but when going up faster, the engine will be running fine then a hard bump (not just a little sputter)as if somone hit the side of the boat.. the rpms seem to stay steady, but this bump has sheared three shear pens as of now. Nothing in the water to cause the hit of the propeller causing the usual shear, just a hard hit of the motor as if it was firing prematurely for a split second.. this is a definate problem and one which I need help on. Both engines are of the same ventage.. I would think perhaps something shorting out in the electrical system but the engines do not seem to loose rpm when this happens. Having it on both engines shows Me it must be something which others may have experienced. Any advice would be appreciated.
