"Most of us who've upgraded to the Edelbrock 1409 have found them to be straight bolt-on's....with next-to-no tuning at all.

Although Holly's are often considered to be a better performance carb, they usually require more tuning.

You can find the 1409's in the $300 range on most performance sites (jegs, etc.). I actually ordered mine through a local Pep Boys (same price as the best deal I'd found online)."

I replaced a carter afb with an edelbrock 1409... no probs. right out of the box... have to drill for the pcv hose fitting tho'... paid less than $200.00 on e-bay but had to put in alot of time checking auctions...
