30 hp 2 strk won't build rpm in gear and dies

i am working on a 30 hp 2 stroke that has been in storage for 7 years. I cleaned the carbs. It starts with choke pulled. Will rev with choke on. Closing choke rpm builds, If I slowly close the throttle with choke closed it dies. Any suggestions? Could it be reed valves need cleaning?

what year is this engine?sounds like it isnt getting gas and mabe not enough air,check your spark and make sure it is firing like it should.If it runs whith choke and dies when choke is open,then it isnt getting enough gas.Ifyou can get it started,have someone squeeze the primer bulb when you disengage te choke.If it runs while you squeeze the bulb,then check fuel pump.Dont have nothing to do with it stating but It was in storage for seven years,replace your water pump before you go out on the water.Hope this helps.

Revisit the carburetor cleaning.----Having to use choke clearly indicates fuel problems.
