25 to 35 carb swap

Has anyone on here ever replaced a 1980 35hp evinrude carb with a same yr 25hp carb? If so is there anything special to be done or is it even possible

There is more to it than changing the carb. I believe the timing is different.

Somebody has to ask, so I will. Why do you want to do that? Most people inquire about the opposite---swap a 35 carb onto a 25.

I’m trying figure out the problem with my 35 it acts as if the carb is the issues I’ve cleaned this thing so many times and still get the same results about 1/4 throttle it bogs but if I put my fingers over the air intake of the air silencer it runs like it’s on fire so I was just going to stick the 25 to it see if I get the same results.

Symptoms suggest a dirty high speed jet (orifice plug). OR---have you verified that it has the correct one in it?

Use new OEM gasket kit as also could be sucking air around emulsion tube....
