25 hp 99

[Robdduluth]

I have a 99 25 hp 2 cycle evinrude that has never been used the guy that originally bought it put it in storage got sick and was never able to use his new boat.

Any ideas on how I should get this running if it ever warms up here in Duluth?

I would just fog the engine before firing it. Check the L/U oil level. I'm sure the impeller has taken a stiff set after 14 years...it may be OK but I might replace it for insurance after watching it run in a tank; not on a hose because the hose creates its own pressure. You want to see how it pumps water on its own.

If it is a 3 cylinder model than take the oil mixing unit off and throw it away as far as you can.----Mix at 50:1 yourself.
