25 / 4s mariner- fuel flow.- carbi- running

Just a follow up on my last post regarding the above.

Placed things back to normal.
Motor starts and runs good , no load , just on ears.
I have fitted plastic clear tubing to monitor fuel flow , from fuel pump to and from carbi.
There are several things im not to sure about.
1. How much air is the fuel pump suppose to pump ?( kit put in ) quite a few bubbles , id expect to see some.
2. The amt of fuel coming to the fuel filter does not seem a great deal, i would like it to be full ?
3. When the motor is running , i hear the noise of tappets fairly noisly.
When a squirt of fuel via the baloon all goes quiet.

It appears visually that not enough fuel is getting thru , but explain the good start and running.

I dont want to go up river and get towed back again !

any further observations,

Look for an air leak in the supply hose.

Jeff

PS: After having "weird" fuel flow problems, I've replaced the quick disconnect with a soild connection. No more air leaks here, and I've eliminated a flow restriction.

Thanks Fastjeff,

I thought the same , i have a spare hose (tank to motor )and i tried that, seems to be about the same.

I will be taking it for a run shortly , will se how it goes under load.

Ive replaced the engine fuel connection , and all the engine hoses will be replaced , after i take off the plastic see through hose.

My main concern will be if the same problem raises its ugly head again , ie gets hot and breaks down , ( not a coil problem , replaced that)

Trying to isolate things that could be a problem.
