2007 mercury 6hp dies in gear

Hey guys have a 2007 6hp mercury 4 stroke and it will run all day in neutral but when you put it in gear it runs for about 15 seconds the dies and puffs out the carb a little bit, it’s got good gas new fuel filter and fuel pump, I’ve had the carb apart 3 times and on the third time I had it in a ultra sonic cleaner for 3 hours with no change, had good compression as well. What are your thoughts? Should I buy a new carb or is there something else that is common on these? Thanks

Sounds like bad adjustment of the idle mixture screw.

The idle mixture screw is behind that brass plug that is blocked off for emissions right? I can just drill that plug off to adjust it?
