2007 150 Optimax engine surge rpms when shifting

Just rigged my optimax, when I shift into forward or reverse, I get about a 200rpm surge just before it goes into gear then immediately drops back to 600rpm as in neutral.....I cant find it. Top mount binnacle..... I have followed the install instructions as best to the T as I can...... uggsions or isthis normal...???

Perhaps, will take apart binnacle and watch for any movement....

Adjustments are off. You are activating the event switch on the engine before the gear case is in gauged.

Thanks, event switch? According to the manual you adjust so when it is in neutral that you can pull a piece of paper between the idle adjustment stop and the screw....am I missing something?

There is an event switch on the engine where your shift cable hooks up. Tells the computer that it is in gear, makes adjustments to the engine and allows it to rev past 4500rpm
