2006 BF50 Hard starting

In the past couple months, my 2006 BF50 has been hard to start. Once it starts, it runs great, and starts quickly each time after. I can't get the bulb "hard", I even mounted it so that it would remain vertical, and the tank vent is wide open.
Could the bulb possibly be bad?...I'd hate to have to buy whole new hose and bulb assembly.... Any ideas? Thank you in advance

If your bulb gets hard when you pump it before starting your motor and your motor runs good after it finally starts, then the problem could be in your top carburetor bystarter circuit may be clogged or the bystarter is stuck open. Your carburetors also could be out of vacuum balance.

Most likely you have to remove the carburetor and clean out the passages. Much of the starting circuit is actually in the float bowl.
