Have an Honda analog tachometer with hour meter that started acting like it first started to loose signal then completely quit working. Cleaned all connections along with applying dielectric great and it seems to show correct idle but doesn't go above maybe 3400rpm at wot. It has a dial along with what looks to be what you would program your gate opener/garage door up and down 1-9 maybe. Looking for help or a replacement tachometer,m thanks.

Take a small screwdriver and rotate that switch back and forth across its whole range several times. That can help clean the contacts internally. The switch should then be set to "1" for the 200 HP.

Dirty contacts and incorrect setting are frequently the problem.

See if that helps.

Thank you, I'll give that a shot. The screwdriver i previously used must of been to big. Also, any ideas as to why the hour meter may have stopped working?

If the hour meter is not working, but the tach seems to be otherwise working, the tach may be bad.

Make sure that the power leads are connected properly on the tachometer.

Also, when you turn the rotating switch, when you get it to the #1 position, it should pop out a little and somewhat lock in place.
