Hello, I'm new to outboard motors and had a question on the shift shaft of an 05 75 HP model 1F75413DD. What happened is the lower unit of this motor was removed and when it was getting put back on, the shift shaft punctured into the crankcase. So the question is, does the shift shaft actually slide up into the crankcase or does it not go into the crankcase at all. Taking a small mirror and looking up at the end of the shaft, the case has a chunk broken from it.
