2005 200hp 4 str fuel inj. bogs at 2000-2500 rpm wont go higher

hi everyone,went to my boat today,havent been in 6 weeks.started right away and idled smooth for 10 min., while i prepared to go fishing.
when i hit approx 2000 rpm engine bogged and backfired.woudlnt go over 2500 rpm total power loss.tried a few times then docked it.checked oil nice and clean and 3/4 full in approved area on the stick. heard a horn sound at start first time
restarts and idles perfectly.
ran great all summer.300 hrs on engine.
anybody experience this?

What brand of motor are we talking about. little confused about when the horn sounded was it when the engine was first started or did the horn sound then motor ? motor going into limp mode overheating??? lean spit could be week fire or lack of fuel pressure. Ill need more info verify compression ignition fuel. need to take a fuel sample check filters. posting your findings will allow me to provide you with the answers you seek. sean
