2004 Johnson 60 hp 4 stroke intake removal

I have a 2004 60 hp Johnson 4 stroke model J60PL4S0. I'm doing maintenance and want to clean out and inspect the high pressure fuel pump reservoir and water separator unit. I have the BRP 2005 60,70 hp manual. It sorta shows step by step procedures to remove the intake. I started following them but it appears like they want you to remove the entire throttle body assembly with the intake. That gets complicated as you are suppose to remove the front panel to get access to a throttle body bolt etc. It sure looks like it is simple to unbolt the throttle body from the intake (4 bolts) and leave the TB on the motor. Having to remove the front panel from the motor isn't as easy as it sounds. It is on a pontoon boat and getting access to those bolts is difficult.
Is removing the intake With the TB attached really necessary ? Has anyone simply removed the intake by taking out the 4 easy to get to TB bolts?
Please let me know as I'm want to get my boat in the water for the season.
Thanks
