2003 25hp rope/recoil start add on

Wanted to put a recoil start from a 1988 30hp recoil only start motor on my 2003 25hp electric start and thought I could do it easily. Of course the mounting for the three bolts is shorter from the 88’ which used the spacers. Looks like a 5/8ths difference I need to make up. Did OMC make a spacer to use to avoid the flywheel teeth since ones from 88’ hit or do I have to source another recoil starter?

Get a bunch of flat washers and make up your own spacers.

These motors use those 3 rubber mounts for the recoil.----Allows housing to move.----Allows those 2 blue plastic pawls to be loaded evenly and prevent breakage of recoil assembly.

Thanks for the info. I just didn’t want to spit ball the mounting to use the rope start only motor re coil Assy. Would rather have the one like on my 20hp that has no spacers and longer mounting legs on it.
