2002 2cycle Merc. Water coming from the thermostat???

My Thermostat cover has a hole in it that is spitting water. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?
Is ther a screw that backed out? Is there a rubber plug or hose or something? Cant find any loos parts or hoses. Just fairly sure that water should not be shooting out the side of the motor...

Order new poppet and thermostat cover gasket. The poppet is behind where that hole is.
