2000 Yamaha Vmax 225. What is the purpose of this switch?

See attached pic. I recently bought a 2000 Skeeter with a Yamaha vmax 225. Boat has been in storage for years so I'm doing a complete check/clean on fuel system, O2 sensor and water pump. I'm curious about the switch located at the oil tank. What is its purpose?

Replacing/cleaning all filters. Bowl filter, in-line and injector pump filter. Replacing pumps (all 3) and cleaning injectors. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Boat was neglected since new. I bought it from the original owner and started the task of completely restoring the neglect. I am documenting the progress. Pics on request.....

That switch turns on a pump to refill the small oil tank pictured and mounted on the side of the engine. When turned on, it draws oil from the large "remote" tank mounted separately. If you drained the small engine mounted tank ( for example, to work on your motor), then you can refill it from the remote tank by using that switch.
