2000 johnson ocean pro 200hp

i recently purchased a 1974 24ft robalo center console. it has the 200 hp johnson ocean pro on it. for the first week or so everything was running smoothly. now, when i pump the primer ball til it is solid and then let it go, the engine powers just fine for 20 seconds or so, then the engine power dies way down and stalls out, i have to start the engine again and start the whole process over again and again. i really don't know what the problem can be. it is driving me crazy and becoming a pain in the butt. any info would be a great help.

Continue to pump the fuel primer bulb constsntly, acting as a manual fuel pump. If this corrects the problem, you either have a fuel leak between the fuel pump and the fuel supply OR the fuel pump is faulty.
