2000 4 stroke 40 oil pressure light?

I have a 2000 f40mshy and I ran it wide open for two hours straight no problem the other day the idled for about 25 minutes killed it and trailered it. 4 days later out it back in the water and the oil pressure light( I think) came on. It's the one that is on the right if you are looking at the front of the motor. Changed oil cause it seemed high and thin still same problem. This is my first 4 stroke.

Remove the oil pressure switch and screw a mechanical gauge into the port to check oil pressure. If it is ok then check your thermostat for debris and to see if it opens when heated. I assume your water pressure looks good?

Your oil pressure switch should light a constant light on your key switch panel. If it goes OUT you have a problem. Check your owners manual for the correct operation.
