20 hp will not run right

question? the motor should run at idle without opening the throttle butterfly at all? right

question? how does one set the length of the throttle link?

does anyone have a manual for a 1979 20hp?
I have a manual for up to 1975 and it isn't helping much at all

Don't mess with the throttle length.If your having trouble check the fuel pump diaphram.The idle rpm's are set on the side of the motor.There is a bolt and locknut that controls idle speerd.
The front/top of the carb is an air screw.Screw it in till it just touches bottom.Then out 1 and1/8th turn.
Then in the water running and warm in gear the turn in air screw till it coughs/bucks or bogs down.Then out 1/2 turn.
Then set the idle to 750 in gear.Then reset the air screw again.Then check the idle rpm's again.J
