20 HP mercury outboard - Carb part #

Hi all: I have a 20 HP 1999 mercury outboard, trying to source a new carb. The serial number (foil) is long gone and totally un readable. I have been round and round with multiple local parts and service providers trying to nail down the carb - or at best find one that could work. Does anyone know the difference between the 8888T19 - T19 through T21? Any guidance or experience would help -

Whats wrong with your carb? Where are you located? a 25 hp carb might be easier to find

im located in Jupiter / Stuart area. I’ve thought about going to a 25 HP but still struggle to find the right parts for rebuild - without knowing the serial #

The carb used the same rebuild kit for around 20yrs

What is wrong with your carb

Very little that can go wrong with the carburetor.----What is your motor doing / not doing ?

Won't consistently Idle, Sometime it does fine, others it isn't so good. I've rebuilt it and also had merc mechanic rebuild. Need choke at times when warmed up to start. Been through the fuel system.

What is your compression? Dod the kit include the primer assembly?

yes it has the primer assembly - compression is ~ 120 psi on both

I really would like some help with the part numbers if that's possible. Any suggestions on where to go look or ask?

Run with a timing light.-----One cylinder at a time.-----See if you are losing spark on 1 cylinder.

The carb was used for a lot of years. Throttle shafts can be changed to make a different yr work.
