2 stroke oil

Can I use ordinary non outboard 2 stroke oil in an old 1960's 15 hp motor for a few hours until I get some more outboard rated oil delivered ?

That's not advisable, for instance, you dare not use 2 cycle oil designed to be used with a 2 cycle "air cooled" engine is a water cooled outboard engine.

Unless that container of 2 cycle oil states that it can be used in a outboard engine.... Do Not use it!
