This is on a 97 Ranger 518 DVS. Have always been able to go higher 50's and when conditions are right 60 mph. Last time I had it out, I was going along at about 5400 rpm and 54 mph on my gps. My alarm went off and the boat bogged down. Wouldnt get above 40 mph. Can barely get it up on plane now and have to trim the motor all the way down and takes a while. Will still run up to around 5400-5500 rpm, just cant get much above 40.
Next problem, happened earlier this year, have just been dealing with it. Went to launch the boat and when put in reverse it grinded something horrible and couldn't get it in. Pulled the plug on lower unit and inspected the grease, no mtal shavings. Figure its in the linkage somewhere, just not sure how to go about fixin it.
Any help on either of these issues would be much appreciated.
