Ok so i picked up a 2.5 from CL a few weeks ago the PO had left fuel in while stored for 2 seasons. totally plugged carb. I cleaned it out and it starts and idles great. the trouble i am having now is that when i open up the throttle it dies. if i open it slowly it will stay running but at WOT it still isn't what it should be. all of this is in neutral...in gear, it will idle in gear but won't run up.
So i know i got a main jet problem...it looks clean. i have reamed it with a small strand of copper wire.
supposedly no one had ever opened up the carb before, but it looks like the main nozzle is missing altogether. it defiantly didn't come out and i don't think it is stuck in the carb.
So i guess my question is would it run at all with just the jet and no nozzle and would the missing nozzle cause my issue?
I suppose my next step should be to get a new nozzle and jet and try it.
