I had the boat out yesterday and she ran pretty good. Quit on me a few times, but of course I had forgotten the spark checker. Ran all day today without issues and finally acted up at the end of the day. I was able to confirm that there was no spark when it died, so it seems to be something electronic as opposed to fuel related.
How do you go about testing the power pack? I'm guessing it will read fine until it doesn't, so I'd have to run the engine until it dies, and then do the testing? Anyone know what the part number is?
I like the way the motor runs (smooth and quiet), and the controls are a TON better than the '88 Evinrude that it replaced. That said, it is quite a bit heavier, and it doesn't run any faster, which is hugely disappointing. That, and it's costing me money to get it going properly, on top of the ridiculously high fuel consumption. I burned through 5 gallons in just 1.3hrs of run time (based on the hour meter on the mini tach). Is it possible that the power pack is affecting overall performance and fuel consumption, or is it one of those things that just works until it doesn't?
