Most motors I deal with have a typical float needle that clips on float or just sits in seat base so float tab makes it level when closed.

This one has the spring inside the needle with about a 3/16" needle sticking out. This needle contacts the tab on the float, normal stuff.
Trying to set float height, but float just drops to bottom like no spring in there. Spring is in there and it does take pressure to push the needle down.
Float isn't flooded, weighs almost nothing.

1. Is that spring suppose to be strong enough to keep float level as it touches the tab?
2. Or, is it designed to be level after tab contacts needle, pushes the spring down until it's closed and seated
I would think 1. is correct.

I tried increasing gap of the tab but to far down and tab catches side of needle

Also, no matter the adjustment to the tab, the float still drops to bottom like what you'd expect if you just took the needle out lol

Is it possible that this design just doesn't have the typical float being level with body measurement and float is intended to drop farther down?
