So like many others on here I am new to boating. I plan to learn as much as I can! Get my inner grease head out.
I have two issues. Firstly my engine was running, the idle did not seem to be the cleanest (but I dont know my boat yet), but then it stopped after about 10 minutes of running. I got it off the trailer by putting it in reverse then put the boat back into neutral and then it died (stalled, shutoff).
Trying to restart, it would turn pretty well, so good battery, but did not seem to turn over or get any spark. Any ideas of why it would shut off like that and then not start back up?
And then I noticed some thick black oil coming out of the prop. At first I was thinking it was from the engine being flooded. But now I think its from the Gear box or prop shaft? Maybe lost my seal from starting it and throwing it in reverse pretty hard to get off the trailer?
