I am replacing the propeller seal in my 1997 E150IXEUC . In1997 it originally came with a single-case extended lip seal (one seal). From what i understand , the earlier and later years they had two single lip seals that are somewhat better. Possibly easier to install and better sealing ? I found a Evinrude/Johnson tech sheet on Marineengines.com that says :
When servicing the propeller shaft, housing, replace two single lip seals, or a single case, extended lip seal with two single lip seals .
They also have a picture.
This tech sheet makes me think that maybe I should be converting my original propeller shaft housing single seal , to the two single lip seals. Anyone know if this is recommended or am I misunderstanding this and should stick with the original?
