1996 Evinrude Primer Solenoid

How do you remove the Primer Solenoid to test it on a 1996 Evinrude 40 Horse

No need to remove it.---Do you hear it click when you push in the key ?---This primer is a valve that opens when you push in the key.----It is NOT a pump.----The key is to be pushed in and held in while cranking it over .---Why do you suspect there is something wrong with it ?

I don't hear the click. Just wondering if it could be in the key switch itself. How would I determine if it was a bad solenoid or the key switch not working right. Just looking for the simplest way to trace the problem.

Take a wee piece of wire.----Jump from + battery connection on starter solenoid to the wire terminal on the primer solenoid.----You should hear the click.
