Please help me troubleshoot this. I recently picked up a non-running 1996 Evinrude 60 hp and am trying to bring it back to life. I have done the following:
1) Replaced water pump
2) Clean carb twice to make sure
3) New spark plugs and spark jumped a gap of 1/2”
4) Compression is between 135 and 140 psi for all cylinders
5) Confirmed fresh gas made it to cylinder by removing plug and crank to see if gas came out (and yes it did).
6) Replaced thermostat
So if I have sparks, gas and good compression, then what else could be the problem? Could the timing be so out of wack that it won’t start?
