New to the site and thank you in advance to all.

I have a 1995 mercury 200 efi. There is a temp sensor/sender located on the port side of the engine head. The sensor has 4 wires (1 black grounded to the bolt that holds it in, 2 short tan wires with black lines and a long tan solid wire). The long tan wire goes over the outboard to the starboard side of the engine and dies out. Somehow the wire is not connected to anything and does not have any kind of terminal connected to it. I am concerned that it disconnected and my over heat warning alarm will not go off in the event that my engine was to over heat. Anyone know where this wire is supposed to be connected? Also would this prevent the temp warning not to go off? I read the manual and on the wiring diagram it does not specify on the wire.

Thank you!
