1994 Evinrude 175 bearring carrier removal

I have removed the 4 bolts insde the prop shaft housing and have a gaer puller attached to the carrier is ther anything else i have to do before using the puller ?

no, it should pull out.------------On salty motors it may take more effort.

That a older model lower unit as they got away from the 4 bolts around 1990...

Thanks for the help I didnt want to break it by tightening the gear puller too much
