1994 50 Johnson Power Trim

Hello Boaters, I've bought a rebuild kit and had a shop replace the upper and lower seals because the top seal blew out over the summer. I got the trim back and replaced the fluid and installed on boat and the shaft moves up and down but will not raise or lower the engine. I pulled the bypass valve out and found a damaged O'ring and replaced the part, still the same problem when not hooked to the engine raises and lowers fine but no luck under load. hope someone can help

Is there enough fluid in it ?? Has it been bled properly ??

Yes, I’ve got my neighbor helping me. He a Engineer on a Tug Boat and it has him scratching his head

We were wondering wondering of there was a other than the control valve that would restrict fluid

Any idea why the people didn't fill and purge and test the system?

Did yyou have to remove circlip to remove manual release valve?

He removed the clip and the valve body. He found a broken O’ring and replaced

He released the pin pulled the valve and found a broken oring. He replaced the ring and put it back together we installed on the motor and filled with oil and bled the system with the motor disconnected and the ram worked fine. We attached the pump to the engine and won’t raise or hold the motor when we pulled it up by hand. We found a little air twice but the third time fluid only
