Hope someone could help I have a Mercury XR 10 HP 1993 model (Belgium built SN: 09716275), and I would like to figure out if the current 9 pitch prop is best for the inflatable boat that I currently own. To do this I need to try and figure out what the WOT RPM is for these outboards, and a way to connect a tachometer to the motor to measure the current RPM. I have attached two pictures and think that I could attach the RPM pickup on to the primary wire of one of the coils (green wire with white line) and then multiply the reading by two. Will this work, and ideas?
