1993 25 HP lower unit removel

Need to remove lower unit to replace impeller. How do you disconnect the shift rod?

I haven't worked on a 25 hp, but my 1994 9.9 has to be disconnected up in the cowling and the entire shaft pulled down thru the unit. The larger motors have splines that just separate from one another. Can you provide a serial number so we can look at the parts diagram?

There is a simple linkage just below the carburetor on the port side of the motor.--------If electric start it is easier to find by removing the starter..---Very easy to remove the linkage too.

Thank you for the tip but how does that pull off the top of the shift rod?

Look at it closely !--One part turns and moves to release the pin.--Really simple.
