The tach on motor suddenly qui

The tach on motor suddenly quit working. I have the owners manual but I can't find how to check if it is the tach or other problem. ser OD096787.

"One of the most common proble

"One of the most common problems that cause a tach to stop working is a bad rectifier. If you have ever created a spark or connected the battery cables up backwards, even for a split second, then it is toast. Your manual will give you the procedure for testing it. You can also test it with a volt meter. Connect the meter to the battery and get a reading. Now start the motor and as RPMS increase a little you should see the voltage rise. Also check all connections to be sure they are clean and tight."
