1992 120 wot timing

hey all i went out today,had to use my tractor battery 12 volt full charge for the timing light,since the batteries are under console,i first static timed in driveway,unhooked the quick start set throttle at wot it at 14 btdc,it calls for 17-19 btdc,so out on water running 5000rpm and set it at 18btdc,it was way out not even close,why would this be,thanx to all

Read the directions again. You do it all while the boat is on the trailer. NEVER in the water running at WOT.
