1991 Johnson 150 water deflectors

I have an overheat problem at high RPM.

I think I need to replace the water deflectors.

I would use a wire brush or a strip of hardwood and clean out all that crud and YES change the deflectors. How old are your thermostats? Whenever I do deflectors I change the 'stats at the same time.

So, I assume that you think that the deflectors look like they are blocking the water flow. Is that right?

Yes, I am replacing the thermostats as well as the temperature switches and water pump.
