"she won't go into foward or reverse and she's not discharging any water from the tell-tell hose. I checked the shift linkage,cables and shifter all are fine. when i place the shift rod in gear by hand i can still spin the prop freely both directions , any ideas ?"

"I agree with Scott except for the spin the prop in both directions part. Even with a broken driveshaft, I don't think that would happen.???Easy enough to figure out--regardless of all else, sounds like LU must come off. Broken driveshaft should be readily apparent once you do."
