1989 70hp Johnson Trim/Tilt Motor Replacement

The system is working fine except the trim/tilt motor is showing corrosion and getting worse quickly. I have the service manual to follow and I don't expect this to be difficult (except breaking loose the three screws that hold the motor). I plan on buying a new motor and making the change. "While I'm at it", should I be doing anything else? The system has never been off the motor and has had zero maintenance.

Thanks,
John

There's a old sacred rule of sorts.... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Install the new electric motor, fill with fluid with all rams extended... run a few times and fill again. The unit is self bleeding.

I'm of that same school. Many a times I've should have "left well enough alone". In this case it "seems" cheap and easy. I might go even cheaper and easier. Remove assembly, remove corrosion and re-paint.

Thanks,
John
