1988 OMC Cobra Doesn't Stay Running

Hello, I have a 1972 Mako Open with a 1988 OMC Cobra 5.0L stern drive. I just installed a new electronic ignition kit along with a new 1.7 ohm R coil. My issue is that as soon as I release the key from the crank position the engine dies. I ran a jumper from the battery to the coil + and when I start it it runs perfect. I had no issues before installing the new ignition kit. Any ideas? Thanks

Ayuh,... My guess is, ya didn't put the ignition wire back onto the coil,....

The coil is fed by the starter, when crankin' the starter, 'n by the ignition circuit when runnin',....
