1988 70 hp Evinrude VRO, Any concerns?

I am looking at replacing my 50 hp evinrude with a 70 hp evinrude on my pontoon. I have found a 1988 model with the VRO than has been disconnected. Anything I should look for particularly before purchasing this motor.
 
Compression test.---Water test on a boat before handing over cash.----Or is seller / rebuilder offering a warranty ?
