1988 50hp Mariner HT Leads

I have a shot HT Lead on my Mariner 50 and they seem to be damned expensive over here in the uk, so far I've been quoted £121 + delivery for a full set. What I would like to know is do I have to use the exact HT Lead for my engine or can I use others from Mariners/Merc engines because I can get hold of these a lot cheaper.

The part number for my engine is 813715A6

I think that they are rated according to HP so it may not be viable but I'm kinda hoping that someone can tell me for sure.

Find some generic solid core plug wire and swap the ends over and then go boating.----------Nothing special about this job.

Halfords have plenty of generic plug leads that'll do the job.Or any Motor Factors.

Some advice please,, so will revive this old post ... have made up some new leads for blue band 50hp (thunderbolt ignition) but not sure on type of plug cap to use.

Does anyone know if the caps have resistors or not.. as want to get correct ones.

NO resistors! The wires unscrew from the cap (which you probably know).

I didnt try to unscrew exsisting in case they were needed.. but thanks for response.. Just contacted a seller who said these would do the trick. What you think????
